Lakeshore Residence

This one was special - a young family wanted to downsize from their suburban home but didn't want to sacrifice the connection to nature. We designed a three-story lakefront residence that maximizes natural light and views while incorporating passive solar heating and a green roof system.

The challenge? Working with strict waterfront regulations and ensuring the building could withstand lakefront weather conditions. We used locally-sourced materials and added large operable windows that let in the breeze during summer months.

Queen West Office Complex

Toronto, ON | 2022

A mid-sized creative agency needed space that reflected their brand - innovative but not pretentious. We transformed an old warehouse into a bright, collaborative workspace with exposed structural elements and floor-to-ceiling glass that floods the interior with natural light.

The existing concrete structure was in decent shape, so we kept most of it visible. Added high-efficiency HVAC systems and a rooftop solar array that covers about 40% of their energy needs. The client's favorite part? The central atrium that became their main collaboration zone.

Forest Hill Family Home

Toronto, ON | 2023

The clients wanted a forever home - somewhere their kids could grow up and eventually bring their own families. We designed a flexible four-bedroom home with spaces that can evolve over time. What's now a playroom can become a home office or guest suite down the road.

Built with cross-laminated timber for the main structure, which cut construction time and carbon footprint significantly. The south-facing design captures winter sun while deep overhangs prevent overheating in summer. It's the kind of place that just feels right year-round.

Historic Renovation

Distillery District Heritage Building

Toronto, ON | 2021

This 1890s brick warehouse had been sitting empty for years. The bones were solid but everything else needed work. We had to balance heritage preservation requirements with modern building codes - not always an easy dance.

Kept all the original brick and timber beams visible, added modern insulation behind the scenes, and installed contemporary systems that don't compromise the historic character. Now it houses creative offices and retail spaces. The heritage committee was thrilled, and honestly, so were we.

Mixed-Use

King Street Mixed-Use Development

Toronto, ON | 2022

Eight-story building with retail on the ground floor, offices on levels 2-4, and residential units up top. The tricky part was creating separate entrances and systems for each use while maintaining a cohesive design. Plus, the site was tight - we're talking urban-tight.

We stacked the uses strategically to minimize noise transfer and created a shared rooftop terrace that all occupants can enjoy. The facade uses varied materials to visually break up the massing, so it doesn't feel like one massive block. Community feedback during planning was actually pretty positive.

Tech Startup Headquarters

Mississauga, ON | 2023

Fast-growing tech company needed room to expand without breaking the bank. We designed a modular office space with movable partitions and infrastructure that can adapt as teams grow or shrink. They wanted it to feel less corporate, more campus-like.

Incorporated lots of breakout spaces, a full kitchen, and even a small gym. The building's oriented to catch morning light in the main work areas, with meeting rooms on the west side. They've already expanded once since moving in, and the layout handled it smoothly.
